When my stepson got engaged, I became interested in unconventional rings that celebrate this milestone. I wanted to make some that had charm, but were not of a type one could easily find in an average jewelry store. These are some of my designs; my birthstone and Mother's rings can also be easily adapted to this purpose.

The first few of these use "diamonds" (CZs in these prototypes) of a more modest size, while setting them off in a way that maximizes their beauty.

Victorian engagement rings often spelled out a sentiment, using the first letters in the names of the gemstones. "Regards" and "Dearest" were typical such sentiments. I've updated them into a more modern look while retaining the symbolism.

Please see my page of Birthstones and Mother's Rings for more ideas for rings in this category. An engagement ring, for example, could use the birthstones of the people involved, set with accent stonmes symbolizing their children, or diamonds, or other events meaningful to them.

I hope these inspire you to work with me to create your own unique ring designed and made just for you!
