This ring was inspired by a monthly challenge on the LiveJournal "Metalsmithing" community, to make a ring with a hammered texture. Since I was doing a lot of filigree at the time, I thought the two textures would be interesting together- plus soldering the delicate filigree wires to the heavy hammered part would be a challenge! The look was inspired to some extent by Japanese drawings of waves.
