Here's an overview of many of the Möbius rings I have created, mostly as wedding and/or committment rings. I will happy to make them for you personally, based on your own preferences and ring sizes; costs depend on the metals(s) chosen and the sizes of the rings.

The Möbius strip is a fascinating object- a 3-dimensional shape that has only 1 side. Wikipedia has more on them here. The easiest way to see this for your self is to cut a strip of paper, give one end a half twist, then tape or glue the ends together- and this is essentailly what I do to make these rings.

I particularly love the symbolism of the Mobius ring for wedding and/or committment rings. The two sides of the physical object merging into the one side that symbolizes the relationship is a great metaphor! Both sides still exist, of course- but they are ALSO both a part of one; it's almost magical.

All my rings are individually made for the specific people who request them, except for a very few on sale "as is" on Etsy. I do not mass-produce these. If you choose to buy my rings, I will send you a series of pictures of your rings as I work on them- even when they look ugly!- so you will be able to participate in the process and see exactly what's going on with YOUR rings.

Here's an unsolicited message from someone who ordered a pair of these, sized proportionately, in palladium (a 95.2% PD alloy, which is tougher that pure palladium):

Hi Amanda,

Our Moebius rings arrived yesterday and we are just thrilled with them! They are absolutely beautiful. We were both admiring them a lot today! They fit perfectly (they were so comfortable right out of the box, there was no "wearing in" needed) and the combination finish really shows off the twist. They are obviously very well-made pieces of jewelry, they look and feel very solid and elegant. The palladium gives a real weight to the rings and the color is lovely, especially with the brushed finish. I am very glad we took your advice about the choice of metals, the palladium is beautiful and doesn't really look like anything else. You were absolutely right about the widths you recommended, they look very proportionate on our hands but both are still wide enough to show the twist clearly. This design is fabulous for a wedding band, since it is very delicate and elegant but also simple and mathematical - it's not "too girly" or "too masculine", but just right, and the symbolism is very appropriate for a wedding ring.

Thank you so much, they are gorgeous and we look forward to wearing them for many, many years!

All the best,

Amanda and Jim.

I can make this design with or without a gemstone, in a variety of finishes, and in a variety of metals and sizes. Please see "About Metals" to learn more about the options I can offer; the fabrication of the ring does rule out a few metals, though there is a good selection of both white metals and yellow gold that work beautifully.

For another, more delicate approach to a mathematically-inspired ring with interesting symbolism, please see the page about my Borromean Rings.

Or visit Rings on my Etsy store to see these and other rings- math-inspired and not.

Möbius Rings Without Stones

These are ideal for wedding and committment rings, and for elegant rings for people who prefer low-maintenace jewelry in general. I love the symbolism of them for wedding rings- the two truly become one in this design!

Möbius Rings With Gemstones

The largest stone that works with this design is a 2mm one, in the 3.8mm wide Mobius band; a narrower band will require a smaller gemstone. These examples show a range of gemstone sizes from 1.5 to a bit over 2mm, and in different colors of gold and in silver.
