This set of earrings was a commission from a Dream Theater fan. She wanted large dangly earrings that featured their symbol- based on one used by Mary Queen of Scots- that included turquoise as an accent.

In making these I streamlined the symbol somewhat, to make it more practical both to make and to wear. One does not usually want jewelry that will stab one in the neck! The stones are Sleeping Beauty turquoise in irregular shapes. I made the earwires out of argentium sterling and heat-hardened it to make it more resiliant (it can be hardened to a greater extent than regular sterling). Most of the earrings have a high polish, but the symbols themselves are a brushed matte finish and patinated to give a steel-like, industrial look.

Sterling silver, argentium sterling silver, fine silver, turquoise.
