"Granulation" is the decorative technique used here, along with some basic fusing. Both are ways to attach certain metals to similar ones, without the use of solder, by raising them just barely to the melting point and pulling away the heat before everything turns into a blob.

The hearts are slightly domed fine silver, and the wires and balls that decorate them are also fine silver (as are the bezels for the garnets). They have a sterling backing for strength, and the posts and nuts are also sterling. The garnets have a rich red color, and the polished metal behind them helps their intense red.

The two hearts are slightly different in size; the one on the left is a bit longer than the other. This is not visible in wear.

0.625 x 0.625 in (16 x 16 mm).

Fine silver, sterling silver, garnets.
