I was inspired to make this piece by the challenge of creating five-fold symmetry in filigree for plique-a-jour. I'd done several pieces with three-fold symmetry, and was looking for a challenge.

The two shades of blue and the three yellows and oranges work together to accent the lively lines of the filigree. The yellow sapphire in the center adds a bit of sparkle.

This shot is not backlit, and the piece will look very similar to this when worn. The sapphire does not show here to best effect; it's a clear and bright small stone.
