Artist's Statement

My art is driven by my fascination with several things: smallness and precision; color; the strength and malleability of metals; and the infinite number of techniques and skills that can be used in such work.

Goals
To build my skills and techniques in metalsmithing, both to implement my own designs and to teach to others

To explore metal's possibilities, and to use them to create original and innovative work

To work with artists in other media exploring the possibilities a combination of media brings to design

To instruct metalsmithing students in techniques of working with metals and the use of those techniques to fabricate their design concepts

Professional Experience
1990 - present: Designed and fabricated original work in metals as one-of-a-kind and art pieces, as commissions and for production

2002 - 2006 Taught introductory, intermediate, and advanced metals classes at the Worcester Center for Crafts

Illustration and design
1988 - present: Designed and illustrated various diverse commercial projects, including several music CDs, and programs and artwork for the Philadelphia Christmas Revels theater production.

Related Experience
1990-present
Classes and workshops at the Worcester Center for Crafts and other locations: Took and continue to take a variety of classes, mostly in metals, to improve my own skills and craftsmanship. Most recently studied advanced stonesetting with Douglas Zaruba, and plique-a-jour enamels with Diane Almeyda.

Teaching Experience
2005 - present: Teach a variety of metal and enamel techniques to private students in my studio

Fall 2002 - 2006: Taught a variety of metals classes at the Worcester Center for Crafts

October 5, 2002 Teacher at the Metal Smith's Symposium, Sutton MA
Taught a class in Basic Ancient Brooches for novice and experienced metalworkers in the Society for Creative Anachronism
